Makeup Tip of the Week
Enlarge your eyes
The key to making eyes look bigger is to brighten the whole area. Start by applying a shimmery shadow along your brow bones and in your inner corners. Next, line your inner rims with a flesh-toned or white pencil, curl your lashes, and apply mascara.
Max Out a Small Mouth
The best way to plump up your pout: Dot a pearly pink gloss(over regular lip color) on the best of your lower lip. Now, blend a bit of the same gloss over the bow of your upper lip.The subtle bright spots will make your lips more pronounced-sans lip liner. Also, favor lighter lipstick shades, since dark ones are minimizing.
Mask Scars
Scars are often dark and tend to have taut, shiny skin. You can begin minimizing them by using a retinol cream daily--over time, it'll ex foliate the darker pigment, which helps make it fade. In the meantime, tone them down with a matte cake concealer one shade lighter than your complexion. For the most precise job, paint it on with a brush. Finish with a particularly generous helping of powder. The less scars gleam, the less they'll stand out.
Reverse Redness
A yellow-based tinted moisturizer or foundation will cancel out the redness in your skin. Look for shades with the words warm or golden in the name. Blend the base in, sweep on translucent powder and you are set!
Photography ready makeup
Sometimes in a photograph of yourself you'll notice that your face is white and your chest is tan. That's because the flash reflects light off the face(with foundation and powder) and the raw skin of your chest or neck absorbs the light. Next time you think you're going to be photographed, be sure to apply a bit of powder to your neck and chest, or wear little or no foundation.
Make Pores Disappear
Since noticeable pores tend to be a sign of oily skin, address that issue first. Use a salicylic acid wash daily. Next, go for a mattifying base. Finally, go with blotting papers instead of powder, which can congeal in large pores and make them look more pronounced.
Disguise Wide-Set Eyes
To create the illusion of orbs that are closer together, sweep your eyeliner on all the way to the innermost corners. It's okay to extend the line to the outer corners of your eyes, but don't go beyond. When swiping on mascara, the secret is to hit even those tiny wispy lashes near your tear ducts. This will make a big difference.
Brows
I've done thousands of brows and they are very important to me. To see where the brow should begin, using your pencil place it at the edge of your nose and connect this point to the corresponding inside corner of your eye. The line it makes is where the brow should begin. Be careful where you get your brows done. You never know how some places are using proper sanitation or it their wax is too hot. And never never get waxed while on skin medications.
